10 Tips for Finding Amazing Real Estate Jobs all Year Long

We all know what it feels like to spend day after day searching for that perfect job, only to walk away empty handed. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over nine percent of the American workforce is currently unemployed. Unemployment rates have hit an all time high and those numbers continue to climb each and every month.

So with the economy and the numbers against you, how are you expected to discover that one missed diamond? Actually, it may be easier than you think. There are a number of different tricks and techniques that people use to find those great jobs. I have highlighted the most important of those techniques below:

1. Create an awesome resume. A resume is little more than method of advertising your skills. You are given a powerful opportunity to make really sell your self and your experience to a potential employer and it is up to you to make sure that happens. Take the time to highlight your best attributes, proof-read and spell check your resume before sending it to anyone. Consider this one piece of paper to be the strongest tool in your arsenal and use it to its fullest advantage.

2. You should have a general idea of the type of job that you want. Simply saying something in the real estate industry is a little broad, even for the most experienced of searchers. In fact, the real estate profession as a whole is made up of a large variety of different job titles. Those may include real estate agents, property managers, rental agents and many more. Try and narrow your criteria to a more specific job title for better results.

3. Avoid spending too much time searching through the larger online job sites. Services such as Monster and HotJobs can be extremely competitive. The more competition you have for a position, the harder it may be to land that particula

How to Write a Professional Resume

If you are out there looking for any professional positions, then the professional resume you use for the purpose is the one thing you cannot afford to get wrong. The professional resume is, after all, your 'advertisement' for your services to the prospective buyers of the services (the employers); and could go a long way towards determining whether they proceed to procure those services you are offering them, or whether they opt for another 'service-vendor.'

You might not think much about the mechanics of professional resume writing, until you get to hear of people who lost out on positions they were very highly qualified for to people who were obviously less qualified - not because of underhand dealings - because of how the two sets of people appeared through their resume. In this regard then, it is important to take note of the fact that your professional resume is essentially a 'forerunner' you send before yourself when searching for a professional position; and as a 'forerunner' to you, your resume could present you in good or bad light, depending on how you go about developing it.

Private Sector Jobs

Choosing between a between a government job and a job in the private sector may be a bit difficult. They may both invariably fall broadly into the same category of career. But the significance of the matter arises when candidates are faced with this question at the beginning of their careers.

What Influences Candidates Towards Government Jobs?

Traditionally, government jobs have been considered safe with no or little threat of job loss, especially when job opportunities in the private sector were not. There was a time when governments, both Federal and State, were the biggest employers. Then, job seekers and believed that bagging a government job made their or their children’s lives more secure.

Nevertheless, Government jobs have traditionally offered many perks which private jobs do not. Here are a few job benefits and reasons for choosing a government job over a one in the private sector.

Getting a Job in the Public Sector

The best part of working in the public sector are the benefits. The bigger the city the better the health benefits. The pay is also reasonably high as are the retirement benefits. Even though the stimulus package will increase the public sector somewhat, it will not increase as before, as seen by recent employment growth by sector.

Most of the jobs in the public sector require a civil service examination followed by a waiting list depending on how high you and how many opening are anticipated. In reality the only growth in the public sector is in the health and education industry. The health industry, though in limbo now because of the proposed change in health coverage, in the end will bring in more people to be serviced. This along with the aging of the baby-boomers will make the health industry both public and private prime places to seek work.

It's not a secret that the higher up the ranks, the less job opportunities exist. Especially for this reason, it is important to partner with an executive recruiter to help find that perfect employment opportunity for you.

The key tactic is to be proactive in your career search and to not simply wait around until you see or hear of an appropriate position. Your Executive Recruiter will market your profile to your list of target companies, regardless if they have an active opportunity available. Over 50% of employment opportunities at the Executive level are not posted and are kept in confidence so marketing a candidate directly to an organization can have many advantages.

Being presented in this manner to organizations by a Recruiting Firm that is a contingency firm, allows the organization to consider your candidacy and have an exploratory conversation with the candidate at no cost... no strings attached. This is definitely advantageous to both the client and the candidate. In order to properly package your background, strengths and accomplishments, it is essential that a Recruiting Expert do this on your behalf. Personal Assistants Worth Their Weight In Gold

The daily life of anyone who has managed to secure themselves a PA job is certainly never dull! The main role of a PA has certainly changed over the last few years and PAs are now regarded as being practically the lynchpin of the management suite.

A good PA will not just organise their manager’s diary, but also ensure that calls are screened and that time is set aside not just for meetings, but to carry out essential duties. PAs also act as a buffer zone between all those people who want to meet the boss or take up his/her time and it is often said that a good PA is practically worth their weight in gold.

Highs include successfully ensuring that difficult situations are dealt with appropriately, which often requires really quick thinking and even quicker actions, to ensure that the whole management office runs like clockwork. PAs are also expected to be able to balance often demanding and conflicting demands on their time and when faced with these kinds of situations and having dealt with them appropriately, there really is a great high of job satisfaction. Usually, promotion prospects are quite good as well, so anyone who bags themselves a pa job, could find themselves in the role of an executive PA in a very short space of time.

The lows of being a PA? Well mostly the lows relate to working under pressure, making important decisions on your own initiative and often being the one person who seems to be juggling about 10 balls in the air! But even this kind of pressure can be a real high, because if you are ambitious, flexible and reliable, able to cope with a reasonable amount of pressure and still appear unflappable, then you will be not just a good PA but an excellent PA. And it is a field that offers you the scope to really demonstrate and then exploit your potential, which is quite rare in the employment field currently!

Managing Your Talent Pool

Having a productive talent pool is now considered as the best approach in terms of recruitment. This productive talent pool should always be cultivated and also be developed in order to maximize the benefits from it. How do you ensure a "productive talent pool"? Well, you could consider these clever sourcing strategies:-referral networks-tapping into Alumni communities-revisiting stored CVs/ResumeThe candidates gathered through these activities should be processed in one way or another in order to ensure that you maximize these people. Of course, you have to give back if you are going to consider these applicants. Here is an excellent suggestion on how companies could give back:"If you are being clever about attracting candidates to your career site, then you MUST deliver to them a great candidate experience.  Whether or not you hire the individual, this initial contact with your company sets the groundwork for the long term communications and relationship that can be extended throughout that person's network as well."Do you agree or disagree?  Image source: Stockxpert

If your company is more into the "massive hiring" type then attracting fresh graduates is definitely the best strategy that you could implement in the company. One thing that you could do as recruiters is to have an "online" connection with fresh graduates since they are the ones who spend a lot of time online. Through establishing an online connection, you would be able to connect and communicate with them thus enticing them to apply to your company. Here are some tips from Recruitment 2.0:-Create a top-notch interactive graduate site that will get graduates’ attention and keep them coming back to your site. -Get graduates to your web site and then have them opt in so you can communicate with them.-Use professors, lecturers and assistants at targeted universities to help get students to your graduate site. -If appropriate, “donate” your company’s products to universities. -Once students are on your site, keep them there and impress them with your blog, chat room, video feeds, podcasts, etc.-You can use assessment tools to pinpoint top students, and give them special status as “fast trackers”.-Create an e-newsletter to keep students up-to-date and create a positive impression of your company.

Funny Job Ads

Whenever I use vending machines or ATMs, I usually ponder on a silly thought: What if someone was actually inside doing the transaction for me? As I mentioned, this was just one of the silly thoughts that popped into my head whenever I get tired of interviews. Imagine my surprise and glee when I spotted this picture: Someone actually had the same thought as I am and translated it into a job ad! Clever, eh? This is just one avenue that job advertising could consider when they are actually thinking of having a different viewpoint when attracting applicants. Personally, I consider "unique" job ads is a great way to actually attract applicants because it would certainly caught their eye and would make them interested in applying. To see more similar job ads, just click here.
